Short Bio

My name is Denise Griffin. I recently retired from special education after 32 years. I graduated in 1993 with a B.S. in Education. For two years, I taught junior high students with moderate to severe disabilities in my first two years. For 28 years, I taught high school students with complex multiple disabilities in a large suburban district in Oklahoma. Then I taught secondary students with moderate to severe disabilities in a small rural area in Oklahoma, my last two years. In 2018, I graduated with my master's in special education with an emphasis on transition services. I am currently working on my EdD in Organizational Leadership. My research area is postsecondary opportunities related to community participation, involvement, and engagement for individuals with complex multiple disabilities to develop a sense of belonging.
